Inline Hockey is a fast and exciting sport that is best compared to Ice Hockey, with players wearing inline skates instead of Ice Skates.

Eastbourne Edge began life as a school club in 2003. It was set up by a small number of keen teachers at Ratton School who were interested in bringing this ‘new’ and exciting sport to the youngsters of the school. Training took place weekly in the playground before moving indoors for the winter months. Its popularity grew and grew and within a couple of years, training moved to a bigger venue.

Soon after the club started, students from other local schools found out about the club and got involved too. It was with a good number of up-and-coming and enthusiastic players that the decision was made to enter the British South East Skater Hockey Association (SESHA) League. Nervous and inexperienced, the players played their first competitive league games in Hastings in 2005, losing every match each week in their first season. This didn’t stop them however as they gained match experience and fine-tuned their skills, the players saw more and more success on the rink. Within a few years Edge teams progressed to become proud winners of the SESHA league and now regularly qualify to compete in the British (BISHA) National Finals and in 2013 for the first time the Edge Peewee team won the National Championships.

Eastbourne Edge is now an independent club in its own right, with former and current GB players, run by experienced volunteers with a passion for hockey. Some young members of the club are so enthusiastic about hockey that they volunteer to help with the training sessions for the under 12’s, 10’s and 8’s, something which can go towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award.  A number of players have had their Duke of Edinburgh awards signed off whilst getting involved in a sport they love.

The club has had some fabulous successes recently with the Seniors team winning the BIPHA South Division 1 Championship in 2023 and the Under 10's team winning the bronze trophy for the BIPHA South East 2023-2024 League.
